Blossoms

I put together this mosaic of some of the shots I've taken.

The dogwoods are just budding and we should have those next week! I am very much enjoying this Spring, after a very cold Winter. (For us)

I am not looking forward to all the pollen that is really going to kick in soon. The pine trees also bloom and the yellow pollen covers our cars, and gets everywhere! I will definitely take pics of that for you.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunny days, and the flowers everywhere!
I'll post some more flowers soon!

Snow in SC!!

I have never lived anywhere it snows. Well, you know, on my residence. Until NOW!! :)

I know many of you are not so happy when it snows, because it stays for months, and can be a mess, but when you don't get more than an inch of snow in over 7 years, it's quite something! It was a Friday night, which was great, because it was AFTER most people got home from work, and didn't have to do much on Saturday.

Chris and I were like little kids! YAY! Snow!!!! OMG! SNOW!! lol I grabbed my camera and we jumped in his truck to go see it! We drove around the neighborhoods behind us and I jumped in and out taking pics! We just loved how beautiful everything was!

We got home and put on more clothes and beanies, and headed out for a walk around the complex! It was coming down GOOD! WE did the happy dance, and went to bed knowing the world would be magically transformed in the morning!

And it was!

I got up early and headed out to catch the sunrise! Oh what a beautiful morning! (sing it!)

I walked all around the complex and took a bajillion pictures! Yes, it's a number...
I just couldn't get over how much, and how beautiful it all was with the sun coming up!

So, I came back in, got Chris up, had some more coffee, and told him I really wanted to go to the State House to see it with snow, and he agreed to take me!

The sun had been up just a few hours, it was still before noon, but it wasn't freezing, so the snow was melting by the hour. We got to the State House to find plenty of snow left on the grounds, but not so much on the dome any more. Beautiful, still, and serene as we walked around the grounds.

It sure is lovely.

We actually had ANOTHER snow in March! It wasn't much, came late at night, and was gone by the morning, but two snows in one year! Pretty cool for us.

Love you all!

Catch up

Here I am!

Happy Spring all! This second day is rainy for us, and makes it a good day to catch up on my blog.

I guess I'll start at the beginning. January was a new beginning, for sure. I left the salon in the Lexington Country Store, as it was just too isolated for me. I still need to build here, and there were really no walk ins there, let alone the fact that it was hard to know there was a hair salon inside, etc...
I found a cute new salon in West Columbia, WAY closer to home, with big windows and more visibility, advertising, and stylists. Even a massage therapist! (she's Really good) A more 'proper' salon. I really like it so much better, and it is proving to be more convenient for my existing clients. I have had a few walk ins, and have been reaching out through facebook, and going to business womens meetings to get my name out there! So that's a HUGE load off the stress wagon! lol
Chris has been a champ, and very supportive during this transition, which I know has stressed him out as well, but we're on the upside of it now. :)

That's my station up there by the screen and window! Love it! :)
We did a photo shoot with all the stylists about a week or so after I started, and then about another week or so later, 3 people quit. :\ We in turn got 4 new stylists! Ha! so, we are full, and going to do another photo shoot next week. Stay tuned.

We go down by the dam at Lake Murray to the "DAM P-NuT MAN"! That's his trailer he hauls behind his truck. We always chat with him, and are always amazed when he's there in cold or rainy weather, but that's when they're best!
He serves 'em up fresh and hot in a paper bag, and they ROCK!

Springtime

I'm testing out some new things with my blog. I want to change it, but it's hard for me to learn 'html'. I will tho. :)

In the meantime, I realize I haven't ever posted photos from or talked about my fun trip to CA in Dec. Nor had I written about the Holidays, not even the SNOW we got!! :) I promise I will work on summarizing, and get some photos lined up to share! I have moved to yet another salon, and am still building a clientele. I'll tell you all about that too.
So, I've been busy, and when I'm not working, I'm taking lots of photos!!

Off to a women's networking breakfast this morning. Wish me luck! Be back later!

Somber day

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you Ann Cunningham passed away yesterday after a valiant battle against cancer.
Those of you who know me, have no doubt heard of Ann, and to those of you who had never met her, all I can say is, I wish you had.
She was so many things to so many people. Mother, Friend, Sponsor, Grandmother, Mentor, Teacher, etc. and surrogate to many. She helped so many people battle their addictions and pain, always with the perfect awareness of what was needed. Humor, anger, kindness, sternness, or grandiosity.
Whatever the case, SHE was the one who gave unconditional love in the truest meaning of the term. Never judging, always accepting. She tried to teach us all to be our best selves.
She did all she could to prepare us for this day, still thinking of others up until the end. My family and I are so blessed for having had her in our lives, and grateful for all of her generosity and love.
She was truly one of God's angels and she will be greatly missed.
